July 1997 –
Present [snip] (Own Company), Computer Consultant
Current
My day to day work
consists mainly of responding to varied requests for solutions
to those sometimes difficult situations which require an unusual
mix of skills or experience.
Typically, these may
involve interaction between say, Microsoft Office and IBM Lotus
Domino based systems.
My most recent task was
to integrate a Domino based CRM system with Microsoft Outlook,
which involved developing an Outlook COM Add-in to communicate
with the Domino application.
I have also developed a
‘connector’ for the [snip]™ scanning product to allow image
scanning direct to Lotus Domino Document Manager systems from
embedded clients on Canon and Ricoh scanners. This involved
significant Windows COM development as well as the complete
installation and documentation package.
I continue to develop
and support a document management system for an international
chemical catalyst manufacturer, based in the North-East. This
client engaged me to develop an email management tool to
integrate Novell GroupWise with their existing IBM / Lotus
Domino document management system.
Over the past ten years,
I have been involved in the design and implementation of many
medium scale document management systems, based on IBM Lotus
Domino Document Manager.
All of these
implementations have involved business analysis, specification,
design, development, installation and training. Frequently,
this training takes the form of specially developed custom
courses for the implementation. I have also provided technical
advice and development for other consultancies working on
government document management projects.
A recent document
management project has been for a major property management
company based in Birmingham. This project required complete
integration of the Domino based system into the client’s
existing Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory and Outlook
email infrastructure and implementing single user logon and
authentication. This has involved designing and developing
integration modules for both client and server (in C and C++).
This project also included the development of an automated
document scanning solution.
I have a Certified Lotus
Instructor (CLI) qualification allowing me to deliver the
current range of Lotus Domino application developer courses
along with the Domino.Doc, Sametime and QuickPlace components of
the Knowledge Discovery products portfolio.
I have worked on
secondment to Lotus Consulting both in the UK and
Finland. This work has included Notes development on a major
currency handling system (in a secure environment), Notes
development on a distributed project management system in an
encrypted environment, technical report writing for a government
department and Domino.Doc API consultancy. I also developed and
presented the current Domino.Doc advanced developers training
course, and compiled certification exams for Lotus Education
in the USA.
