Network Architect.
Currently working on both iSDX based voice networks, Cisco based
Frame relay networks and Cisco based IPVPN networks running call
manager for large blue chip companies.
I designed and implemented a frame relay network covering 100
sites fro a large corporate company, managing a team of 10
installation engineers. Subsequently a further design proposal
to move some of the sites to IPVPN with Cisco call manager was
accepted and implemented at 13 sites.
I was responsible for the technical design, and ongoing support
of the networks including managed firewalls and remote access
using Securdial and ADSL links.
I was also responsible for managing a separate team of 4 voice
engineers looking after a 30 site iSDX based voice network,
covering moves and changes, fault finding, call management and
voicemail and wide area network links. This network had links
into a secondary VOI P network using QSIG into CISCO routers.

Responsible for producing detailed technical designs and
solutions for C&W communications major outsourced accounts.
Providing technical support to project managers, account
managers and operational teams and implementation engineers.
Produced a variety of different design documents for the LXXXX
voice network.
Major designs have included the successful opening of a new site
in Glasgow and the seamless migration of people and services
from Atlantic Quay 2 to Atlantic Quay 1. The successful closure
of Colmore Row (Birmingham), through re-opening Victoria house
and migrating LXXXX staff and services seamlessly into Victoria
House.

Support Group
I was responsible for building a team of technical analysts and
service analysts capable of running the day to day operation of
a large national network.
The team consisted of 4 technical analysts, 8 service analysts
and 1 draughtsman.
Responsibilities of the team included fault management,
provisioning of services, billing, management of third party
suppliers and contractors, covering all aspects of voice and
data networks provided for Lloyds XXXX.
Responsibilities included providing advice and organisation of
training, carrying out performance management for the team,
managing shift personnel.
I also introduced video conferencing to the bank and set up a
system that would set up, monitor and manage all video
conference calls.
The team formed the template for further formation of a number
of separate teams looking after networks for various blue chip
companies

Joined XXXX Group as part of the team to project manage the
creation of XXXX Voice network (YESNET)
I was instrumental in building the network from a number of
separate stand-alone iSDXs and partial networks
I set up a network of call logging devices to enable network
billing to be carried out.
I was responsible for writing and implementing operating
procedures for fault rectification and fault reporting,
compilation of B2’s and project management of installations of
new switches to the network, and ensuring capacity across the
network was available.
November 1989: I transferred to Network Support to
provide second line support for all voice and data networking
issues and a level of expertise that could be drawn upon by XXXX
operating companies.

responsible for maintaining and managing cipher equipment.
November 1974 - Became the first Lance Corporal to be placed in
technical control, responsible for engineering mobile
communication links across B.A.O.R. and back to the UK.
Reporting directly to the Foreman of Signals and senior
officers.
March 1975 - Promoted to Corporal. Studied for
Class 1 entrance examination during my spare time. Passed
entrance examination in March 1976 at the first attempt
and was placed on a course in March 1978.
March 1978 - December 1978 attended intensive Class 1
Technician Course.
January 1979 - Posted to Germany and placed in charge of
systems control responsible for Voice and Data circuits linking
member countries of NATO Promoted to Sergeant
January 1982 - Posted to Gibraltar responsible for
maintenance and management of a network of 3 Strowger Telephone
Exchanges supplying internal communications for the Armed Forces
in Gibraltar (Navy, Army and R.A.F.). Placed in charge of
co-ordinating / project managing the replacement of the 3
Exchanges with one central 2000 line SL1 digital exchange.
Successfully completed the task and was given the position of
acting Foreman of Signals with responsibility for planning
communication strategy's with the various service chiefs.
September 1984 - Posted to Communications Project Agency
responsible for various installations worldwide necessitating
quick thinking and initiative in order to complete installations
on time when far from base supplies.
