design and development of an intranet-based system for tracking
project costs. This was developed using ASP screens talking to
an Oracle database using Macromedia Ultradev as the main
development environment. Tasks included:

Delivered the first “global view” of the project portfolio
Design and
development of a mass price update system using MS Access
talking to an Oracle Database (VBA and SQL). Allowed what was
previously a day’s repetitive manual input to take place in a
10-minute PC session.
Design and
development of a “Euro Conversion” system using MS Access
talking to an Oracle Database (VBA and SQL). Provided a visible
and auditable method of changing key price information.
Development of
advanced spreadsheet-based packages using VBA and VB Forms
within Excel. Financial modelling modules allowed substantial
cost savings to be made.
Development of an
Access-based system to generate SQL scripts in place of manual
input. What had previously been a manual task taking six weeks
per year was reduced to seven minutes.
1993-1998 Senior Analyst Programmer – Mobil Data
Systems Ltd., London
Design and
development of a “Sales Force Automation” system using Excel to
communicate with a central SAP system. Allowed sales force to be
sure of having the latest prices on their laptops and saved
costs previously incurred with mistakes.
SAP to Oracle
conversion using MS Access to process data. Estimated cost
saving of $250,000 compared with a peer-to-peer solution.
KPI reporting
system using distributed Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets.
Standardisation allowed cross-border analysis of performance for
the first time.
1988-1993 Analyst Programmer – ICI Chemicals &
Polymers Ltd., Wilton, Cleveland
Design and
development of a PC front-end to a Mainframe commercial system
using Turbo Pascal and Assembler. Cost saving of $500k compared
with rewriting mainframe user interface.
DEC to IBM Cobol
Conversion resulting in a cost saving of $200k pa in server
charges.
1984-88 PC Specialist – IGE Medical Systems
Ltd., Radlett, Herts
Responsible for all
PC-based systems within the company and introduction of this
“new” technology
Design and
development of “VAT recovery” system in dBase III. Company was
able to reclaim over $1m pa once goods had been re-exported.
Development and
implementation of “Just in Time” manufacturing solutions in
Lotus 1-2-3. Company was able to reduce inventory from 260 days
to 60 days as a result.
