As Programme Manager of the Digital Pre-Press Programme successfully led a multi-disciplinary team through the establishment and definition of the Programme, identification of the business requirements, management of the Invitation to Tender (ITT) process, supplier selection and authoring of the Business Case which ultimately proved that, while strategically a very appropriate direction for the business, the financial benefits case did not justify the expenditure and the Programme was closed. 

Subsequently asked to ensure the successful completion of Phase 1 of a major Warehouse Project and then given responsibility for the Phase 2 Goods Out project, all based on the implementation of Manhattans Warehouse Management for Windows.  Leading a team of client, IT and supplier staff, new business process were defined and successfully implemented for Publications products with the same defined and under development and test for the core Question Paper products.

Project managed from planning through to post relocation handover working very closely with business users from a wide range of banking departments and the third part relocation supplier.

Led the successful recovery of a failing £3mn sales order processing (SOP) project.

·         Carried out a review of the failed project leading to a recommendation to the project board, for a revised scope and approach.

·          Managed six project managers and their teams, a total project of 60 people including supplier and user resources, to deliver the revised project which included redefined business processes, the implementation of a package solution, a major data migration exercise and user training.

·          Economic circumstances led the client to take the decision to release all consultancy staff before the project successfully went live in mid January 2002. 

June 2000 - May 2001 - Document Management Project Manager

Identified the strategic direction for Document Management and Digital Workflow in the company.

·          Worked with the Board to establish key business drivers for and benefits from Document Management and then led the feasibility study into implementing Quarks Digital Media System (QDMS) to support the strategy resulting in an implementation plan for the pilot of the QDMS software

·          Managed the QDMS pilot project which resulted in a business case for a £1mn project to implement QDMS

·          Developed a separate business case for the implementation of Digital Workflow

·          Spoke at Digital Solutions 2001 at Olympia on the subject of "The Challenge of Asset Management".

Delivered a Feasibility Report into the implementation of new workflows and document management tools

·          Analysed the document management market place and prepared the recommendations for the pilot phase

October 1998 – December 1999 -XXXX Integration Programme Manager

Successfully managed the establishment of new integrated IT infrastructure and systems in and relocation to, a new single office, relocating in excess of 300 staff from six locations working for three companies.

·          Managed the integration of the IT systems, including migration of 300+ staff to Microsoft Exchange

·          Overall responsibility, acting as the client representative, for the design, build and installation of the technical infrastructure in the new building including computer room design & build, voice & data cabling design and installation, telephone system specification and installation

·          Managed the relocation of all IT equipment and systems, in excess of 120 servers and 300 desktop computers and associated applications, from six existing locations to the new office in London.

·          Prepared relocation and contingency plans

·          Responsible for planning, progress reporting and risk management throughout the programme 

·          Managed two internal project managers and of a number of third party suppliers including building fit-out contractors and management, IT infrastructure consultants, networking and telephony suppliers

·          The business was successfully relocated over a single weekend in mid November ’99 with 99% of staff working in their new environment by late morning on the first day of occupation of the new offices. 

March 1998 – October 1998 - XXX Project Manager

Delivered a major Feasibility Report into the implementation of XXXX to support a global document management solution, for the XXXX of XXXX in the UK to the Production Services Director in London and the Global Publishing Director in Amsterdam  

·          Wrote the project definition then managed at team of ten internal staff based in sites in the UK and Holland and the inputs of various suppliers

·          Analysed processes and work‑flows across disparate divisions and developed a common work‑flow supported by recommendations and an implementation plan for appropriate solutions
