CAREER HISTORY

 

May 2004 – Current Date       Xxx

Working for an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) transaction monitoring provider, I was employed as member of a Product Development team to assist in the planning, designing and execution of tests against new releases of AML software products. 

Activities:

         Communicated to other team members and deployment analysts on aspects of the system under investigation

         Installed and configured server and PC based software

         Executed commands individually and as part of a batch to process data through the computer system

         Ensured information produced by via system analytics was presented clearly and accurately in the application screens and on paper based reports

         Carried out data analysis, using SQL, to investigate data issues

         Reviewed product documentation and reported issues to documentation team

         Produced incident reports showing anomalies between what was expected and what actually was developed

         Updated departmental intranet with guidelines and internal procedures

Techniques:

         Report information was presented in various Microsoft Word, Excel, Crystal Reports, XML, Adobe, HTML formats or presented directly in bespoke PC based applications

         Data stored in Oracle or DB2 server databases was manipulated on-line using DBVisualizer

Working for a Building Society, I was employed as a member of the System Services department to provide IT User Support and Test internally developed business systems used for presenting customer data and preparing letters 

Activities:

         Validated letter templates used by company printing system for mail merging and the preparation of manual and automated event triggered customer letters, related to mortgages and household insurance products

         Planned and tested new Premium Rate and Risk Area Import Files (from a well known insurance underwriter), including identification of faults and liaison with developers and third parties to get them resolved

         Provided 2nd Line Support during the migration of Household Insurance products to a new underwriter, where I was responsible for helping sales staff overcome difficulties with using the new system

         Liaised between Users, Business Analysts, System Developers, and Technical Services departments.

Techniques:

         Manual front-end Functional Testing carried out against Mainframe system, including use of a bespoke address capture/verification tool (utilising the Royal Mail's Postcode Address File to check addresses).

         Data Analysis carried out against Mainframe using SQL

Feb 2003 – Jul 2003               Transition Consulting Ltd (TCL)

Employed as a Test Analyst, for an independent software testing consultancy, working on internal company projects and on a client site.  Work included manual testing of their company extranet, production of intellectual property documents and data analysis.

 

Activities:

         Tested a new version of the company extranet

         Produced intellectual property documentation on Gas and Electricity Utility markets

         Helped dentify data cleansing requirements for a Gas and Electricity customer migration project.

Techniques:

         Utilised TCL’s structured testing methods based on the Prince 2 methodology

         Intellectual property information researched using the Internet and documented using Microsoft Word

         Used SQL scripts in TOAD V7 to analyse data and created task lists for data cleansing using Microsoft Excel.

Mar 2001 – Oct 2002              Marlborough Stirling

Employed as a Technical Tester, working in a team to Performance Test a Life and Pensions Administration System called Lamda.  Was responsible for planning and executing manual tests, installation of software, creating and maintaining test databases, administering and managing user access on NT servers, liaising with 2nd line support to maintain test environment and assist developers to resolve issues. 

Activities:

         Supported other team members in creating test environments, writing SQL scripts and analysing test results

         Encouraged a more structured approach to testing

         Devised templates for memory tests and online test results capturing

         Attended project management meetings to help prioritise outstanding issues

         Identified changes necessary to improve performance of application (in many cases batch and online processing times could be improved by 80% of their original times).

Techniques:

         Carried out ad-hoc functional tests and volume tests against both the back-end SQL Server processes and front-end application (GUI written in VB and FoxPro)

         Created test databases by keying in data via online screens, using a bespoke volume generator tool and by manipulating existing SQL databases using SQL Server Enterprise Manager and Query Analyser

         Analysed test results using Microsoft SQL Server Profiler, Microsoft Performance Monitor and SQL Server tools

         Carried out some very basic automated tests using Segue Silk test and Silk Performer

         Used Visual SourceSafe to store and retrieve documentation.

Aug 2000 – Feb 2001             Logica Mobile Networks Ltd

Was employed as a member of a software development team to primarily devise system testing techniques and execute manual functional tests against a Radio Planning Tool called Odyssey.  

Activities:

         Assessed the software development life cycle and identified activities necessary to improve the quality of documentation and testing techniques

         Introduced a mechanism to measure the success of existing test scripts during regression testing phases, which helped to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing process

         Produced new test scripts and successfully executed these during testing phases.

Techniques:

         Manual test scripts were executed against the front-end application with aim of identifying functional errors

         System was developed primarily for UNIX (Solaris) using C programming language, therefore familiarity with UNIX was necessary

         NT workstations used for office automation and terminal emulator used to interact with UNIX system

         Used CVS (configuration management tool) to store functional test scripts

         Basic understanding of Radio Planning was required, including knowledge of GSM.

Carried out various consultancy work on software development and system integration support projects including: 

Web Site Testing:           Was employed in a consultancy role to manually test an Internet site providing financial                                           information, including ISAs, Mortgages and Unit Trusts.  Assisted in the production of test                             scripts and carried out high-level integration, usability and ad-hoc system tests, using both                          paper-based scripts and semi-automated testing tools including Mercury Interactive's                                         'TestDirector'.
