Health
and Safety duties over last 10 years
I have been the Health, Safety, Welfare and
Environment representative for about 10 years with involvement
in, Inspections, risk assessments, health and safety forums/
committees, Accident investigations and all other aspects of
health, safety, welfare and environment.
I worked for a health and safety consultancy
in Middlesbrough and have just been laid of , I carried out
health and safety audits on small to medium companies in all
types of industries and also advised them on their duties under
the health and safety at work act 1974 and any other legislation
that relates to them. My main role was to advise employers of
their obligation under health and safety legislation and what
they have to do to make sure they conduct their undertakings to
safeguard the working environment of all their employees and
others that come into contact with their working activities. I
also conducted training needs associated with the industry
concerned and working practices to enable work to be carried out
safely as far as reasonably practical, create an action plan of
observations I have noticed during the inspection, produce a
fire risk assessment and policies.
I have been involved with some environment
issues, making sure all items that can endanger the environment
are disposed of by the correct local authorities or disposal
firms. All stored oils and other liquids are stored in the
correct bunding and away from areas were they could be struck by
vehicles.
