training and web design services.

web marketing service to develop and promote site

UNIX classes around the UK. Promoting HTML and
Coldfusion website development services.

I worked on a complete rewrite of an internal course
booking system. The system was written in
Java
(servlet
and
JSPs)
with an
Oracle
8i database for data storage and ran on a
UNIX
platform in Dallas, TX. I liased with users regarding
their design requirements, created and agreed screen and
report designs and then developed
Java
code to implement the design. The system replaces a
spreadsheet / e-mail system and enables instructors to
reference their schedules through the Internet, as well
as providing management reporting on utilisation and
performance information.
I was responsible for ongoing
database
administration
and
performance management
for this system and for controlling the Oracle
networking
connections.

Delivered a range of Oracle Corporation certified
classes, including Introduction to SQL, Database
Architecture, Backup & Recovery, Performance Tuning,
Networking, Java Programming, Java and Database Access
(total 32 classroom days). I have learnt to present new
classes through a mixture of self-study and working with
other instructors. Locations ranged from US and UK
ThinkSpark offices to US Oracle centres. Evaluations
are available on request.

Technical
Director / Founder, SkillAdvance Ltd., Finchley, London,
N12. SkillAdvance was set up by two partners, and
myself, to offer vendor independent technical training.
I developed and then presented the majority of the
training classes offered, including UNIX (User
and SysAdmin), Informix (DBA), Oracle
(DBA), Unify (DBA), Visual Basic (to
version 5), Microsoft Access, and several
customised classes for organisations (manufacturers and
software authors).
Classes
were delivered in our North London training centre, as
well as at client locations in the UK, Europe (Holland,
Norway, Luxembourg) and Asia (Bangkok, Thailand and
Madras, India). The company also held several software
sales agencies, for development and reporting tools to
work with multiple RDBMS products.
SkillAdvance became profitable during their second year
of operation, with billings in excess of £750,000. |
