DBA / Developer

I worked on a complete rewrite of an internal course booking system.  The system was written in Java (servlet and JSPs) with an Oracle 8i database for data storage and ran on a UNIX platform in Dallas, TX.  I liased with users regarding their design requirements, created and agreed screen and report designs and then developed Java code to implement the design. The system replaces a spreadsheet / e-mail system and enables instructors to reference their schedules through the Internet, as well as providing management reporting on utilisation and performance information.

I was responsible for ongoing database administration and performance management for this system and for controlling the Oracle networking connections.

Instructor

Delivered a range of Oracle Corporation certified classes, including Introduction to SQL, Database Architecture, Backup & Recovery, Performance Tuning, Networking, Java Programming, Java and Database Access (total 32 classroom days).  I have learnt to present new classes through a mixture of self-study and working with other instructors. Locations ranged from US and UK ThinkSpark offices to US Oracle centres.  Evaluations are available on request.

Classes were delivered in our North London training centre, as well as at client locations in the UK, Europe (Holland, Norway, Luxembourg) and Asia (Bangkok, Thailand and Madras, India).
