Xxx is
an accomplished senior management professional in both the
Public and Private sectors, with a proven track record
in the
development,
management and leadership of multi disciplined IT teams.
Xxx has
strong interpersonal skills, specialising in strategy and
change-management. He has experience in many areas of IT,
including mainframe operations, software development,
infrastructure and business management. He is skilled at
providing a bridge between senior management at board level
and IT, able to advise on true IT costs and services from a
business rather than just a technical viewpoint. Xxx
joined the Chartered Management Institute in 1978 and is now
a Fellow of the Institute.

Interim IT Director
XXXXe July 2005 – October 2006
In July 2005 Xxx was asked to join
the XXXX as Deputy ICT Director to identify and enable any
changes that were required to the Departmental structure,
and technology strategy. The 90 strong ICT team with a £9m
annual budget was organised on a technological rather than
Service concept. Xxx was the Project Manager for the
restructure and was involved at all stages from the
production of a project package including financial and HR
issues, to the Departmental and Group role standards
document. Part of this role was to provide mentoring advice
and guidance for the new Middle Managers, and to help the
new Senior Managers settle into their roles.
Xxx also created the newly
structured budget, produced the Diversity; and Health and
Safety plans. He was involved with senior management
throughout the organisation as a representative of the ICT
department, deputising for the ICT Director as required.
In July 2006 Xxx ceased the role of
Deputy ICT Director and became a Special Projects
Consultant, establishing the new role of Office Manager,
setting up the Office Management team and process
re-engineering many of the tasks undertaken by the Group. He
also established the new role of ICT Account Manager,
managing the expectations of what the role could deliver to
both Departmental Customers and those within the Department.
Additionally he was given responsibility to develop the
Service Continuity Plan for ICT with the business.
XXXX maintain and develop in-house a
county wide Microwave Network carrying data and VOIP.
Multiple UNIX and MS Server 2000 and 2003 environments.
Microsoft products and Oracle; and provide mission critical
services on a 24 x 7 basis to over 40 sites.
Facilitator.
Since 1980
Xxx has been providing training in interpersonal skills
at senior level within Commercial and other sectors, and is
a trained facilitator and negotiator. The successful
creation of the national and regional IT teams within a
large International Law firm (XXXX), demonstrates his
diplomacy, tenacity, motivational and organisational skills.
Xxx is highly proficient at understanding issues from
both a technical and business stand point, allowing him to
bridge the communication gap that frequently exists between
IT and the business.
Information Security.
As XXXX’ IT
Security Officer Xxx was the chief architect of the
Business Continuity Plan, combining the IT Disaster Recovery
requirements with the operational requirements of the
Business. He was responsible for service delivery, incident
escalation and problem resolution in the following security
areas:-firewalls, IP/VPN, Business Continuity, and BS7799.
Xxx is
ISO 15000 (ITIL) trained.
As a
qualified, BSI trained Lead Auditor and Implementer for the
security standard BS7799, he initiated and led the security
team currently adopting the standard within XXXX.

Director of IT Infrastructure –XXXX
(2000-2005)
Xxx was a key player in the
re-structuring of a department which encompassed the
creation of the first national IT budget, a departmental
structure across eight UK offices, the selection of staff,
and the introduction of national controls and procedures.
Xxx was responsible for the policy
development, product and supplier selection, contract and
commercial negotiation for Data, Voice, Office Systems and
IT Security within XXXX.
He was responsible for service
delivery, incident escalation and problem resolution in the
following areas:-
Data –global data networks, local area
networks, including network provision and hardware.
Voice – the selection and
implementation of fixed, mobile and Call Centre
technologies, both hardware and network.
Office Systems - those technologies
which in the last decade have gained an increased IT element
e.g. printers, copiers, faxes, scanners, access control
systems, video conferencing, digital dictation.
Formerly managed by the Facilities teams across the offices,
Xxx managed the transition to IT of the policy, selection
and supplier relationships for telephony and
copier/fax/scanning technology, from the legacy technology
with a range of suppliers, to one framework introducing new
contracts and terms.
In order to
deliver the above Xxx managed a virtual team based across
the UK.
Regional IT Director (East of
England) - XXXX (1989- 2000)
Xxx
joined XXXX in 1989 as the IT manager for the local law firm
XXXX and XXXX in Norwich. The firm expanded to have
additional offices in Ipswich and Cambridge, and in 2000
became an integral part of XXXX. Xxx was responsible for
all IT services, staff, hardware and software; additionally
he had responsibility for the XXXX Wide Area Network. The
firm grew to 450 staff across 3 locations, and Xxx
managed the transition from 30 UNIX terminals and
typewriters in 1989, to a networked infrastructure with a PC
on every desk, all users having Microsoft office on the
desktop, fully integrated with document management.
Software Manager -
XXXX (1986-1989)
XXXX was
the main competition to XXXX in the local market and Xxx
joined to setup a specialist team responsible for software
product development and the commercial preparation of new
technologies.
Managing Director - XXXX
(1980-1986)
Xxx
setup the business with two fellow directors to service the
professional sector of businesses in East Anglia. The firm
supplied Word Processing bureau services; and specialist PC
and UNIX systems. Additionally packaged accounting systems
were developed for the emerging PC market.
Mainframe Operations Manager
- XXXX (1976– 1980)
Xxx
joined XXXX in Norwich in 1976 and ran a team of 45
operating a 24x7 service. Xxx established the team to
implement accounting systems packages, which included
training the clients as well as the day to day running of
the team.
Product Specialist - XXXX
(1972-1976)
XXXX were a
specialist Key to Disc manufacturer. The role was ‘last man
in’, and included running administrator training courses.

Having left
Bradford University where he studied Electronics, Xxx
joined Philips Industries as a management trainee.
