21st March 2005 – 31st January 2006
Software Developer and Acting Test Manager– XXXX, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, UK
Working on a new team where the most of us were alien to the
suites under development / maintenance and where the demand to
keep the systems up was very high. I instigated and headed the
creation of a testing team and testing practices.
My Achievements:
-
I conducted the change and maintenance of the New Business
interface to Connect. The final look of the user interface
was not what the customers were used to and I had to
rollback 6 months work done by some other team.
-
In May 2005 I asked the IT Manager if I we could implement
test practices and select an Automated Test Tool. After the
approval I conducted the tool selection and implemented the
procedures for the tests, after that started to train and
guide a team to perform tests. I led the testing of the next
big release and made sure that it was competently tested and
positively accepted by the business.
-
Created several scripts and organised several libraries to
automate the testing of several websites. Due to that it was
possible improve the daily routine tests and free support
staff for another tasks.
-
Also since May I flexibly worked on both sides “of the
fence”, developer and tester, depending on the needs. Since
November 2005 was effectively the acting Test Manager.
-
Tests created during this period: Unit/Requirement,
Integration, System, Regression, and Performance.
Technologies: Linux, MySQL, Perl, PHP, JavaScript.
10 January 2005 – 28 February 2005
Business Analyst – JMacêdo, Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil
The market in Brazil is very demanding due to the size of the
country. The decision takers needed to have all the information
before they could decide the prices. So, new systems had to be
quickly designed in order for the decisions to be taken with
lesser risk.
My Achievements:
-
Based on very few information from one of the national sales
director I successfully analysed the requirements for a
Price Simulator and was able to develop an excellent
specification. The fact that I have excellent communication
skills and were able to organize several meetings and
persuade the people with the knowledge to give me
information also helped.
-
Introduced several improvements to the analysis templates in
order to make them more complete and accurate.
-
Test templates were outlined and presented for common use
within the department.
-
Rational Test tools were used in order to perform Unit,
Performance and Regression testing.
Technologies: J2EE, J2ME, Oracle 8i. Rational Enterprise.
Clear
Case, Rose, UML, Rational Test Studio (Robot, Test Factory
et al).
Sometime from February to December 2003
Bug Fixing in the CAM-I website, Dallas, Texas, USA (working
remote)
Several features of the website were out of order since the
website was updated the year before (2002).
My achievements:
-
Repaired the problems in the link between the company’s
website and US Postal Service website.
-
Reorganised some internal links in the Standards Improvement
Request (SIR) section in order to allow the users to submit
and download documents.
-
Creation of small C++ routines for internal use.
-
Took part in the definition of a proposal for the new
software standard.
Operating Systems: FreeBSD.
Programming Languages: C++, XML, Perl, PHP, and JavaScript.
SGBD: MySQL.

OO, DBI and CGI), SQL, Data Modelling with ErWin, Access,
Networking, SQLSERVER, RUP, OO with UML, Rational Rose, MVC,
VB6, ASP, NET, PHP, MySQL, Java.
-
After realizing that some improvements could be made to the
course I requested the authorisation from the course manager
and reorganised some modules. Also persuaded the trainees to
spend 2 more working hours, per day, in class for them to
learn VB.NET and Java.
-
Monitored and successfully coordinated the course projects:
WEB (2), Libraries’ Management, Contract Works Management,
RMA’s Control, Telemarketing Control, Salaries and Workload
sheet.
