Working on a new BT converged
product due to be launched in January to the home
consumer market.
Test Voice over IP network
connections, GSM network testing.
Install Wireless test bed networks,
test all forms of wireless connectivity and systems,
using all Microsoft operating systems and technologies
test BT’s broadband networks for errors using Woosh
testing. Install Wireless routers and networks, error
checking all steps of the installation.
Desktop updates via Radia to end
users and internal desktops.

Produce user manuals on all tested
networks for home consumer and business users
3rd line support.
Work closely with the project
manager and design team, relaying faults and errors
found, suggesting and applying fixes.
Discuss with project team for
product rollout and support BT’s own installation and
computer support centres on errors, faults and
solutions.
Fault Finding and trouble shooting
on GSM Network issues, VOIP network issues (Cisco VOIP),
data network issues using cisco works.
Training first and second line
advisors within the BT Contact Centre on the new
products introduced and existing solutions.

network connections over the Inmarsat network
(international maritime satellite).
Web Server Installation
Install and
configure a dedicated server with IIS6 for web access,
FTP, security and email access to the pop server.
The website was
hosted on IIS6 along with the online billing and spare
parts online ordering system.
Crew Email System
Design and implement
an award winning crew communications system, giving
seafarers access to email, telephone and shopping
facilities whilst on voyages.
This product won the
Queens award for innovation in the maritime industry
2003.
CRM/ Accountancy system
Manage the
introduction, on going support of a new accountancy,
contact relation, and service helpdesk system.
Using Armstrong
Accountancy software and Citrix Metaframe.
MS SQL Servers
Upgrade MSSQL 7
server to MSSQL 2000 and install 2 additional MSSQL 2000
servers. Manage and maintain backup of databases, check
integrity of backup.
Website/ ERP
Project manage the
design and implementation of the new company website,
online spares catalogue and online billing system.
Thin Client Terminals
Project manage the
move from standard desktop PC’s to thin clients
utilizing the Citrix Metaframe and Chip PC thin client
terminals.
Telephone Exchange
Project manage the
installation and ongoing maintenance of the new digital
telephone systems. Integrate current system with VOIP
technology.
40 Cisco routers on
the remote vessels and 20 3200 series routers at head
office (running cisco works) for diagnostics.
Network design (sales support)
I was also involved
in projects for on board ship or oilrig network,
telephony or PA systems as sold by the company.
The company resold
Cisco routers and hubs as part of all Data and Telephony
solutions. |
