Team Leader / Senior
Developer, Development Department |
Tate Bramald
Limited
Richmond, Surrey
August 1993 – September 2002
·
Led a team of up to six
developers.
·
Developing Business
Intelligence data extraction tools, data marts and web based
reports.
·
Developing bespoke
add-ins/reporting solutions/integrations and custom
interfaces to accounting software.
·
Developing stand-alone
software products to add functionality to other systems.
·
Responsible for full life
cycle of projects.
Tate Bramald was a leading reseller of
mid-range accounting software, and specialised in systems
integration. Clients ranged from city institutions through
to small and medium sized businesses and charities.
The work involved dealing with clients
from a pre-sales stage, through specification, system design
and development, to testing, roll-out and support.
Projects ranged from a few days or weeks
working alone, through to six months plus, working in a
small team. Projects typically involved liaison with other
departments and with clients. There was also a large element
of Project Management.
Projects included: Order Processing and
Invoicing applications, Trading systems, Time recording and
Job Costing applications, Pension Management, Stock control
and warehousing, and Management Information Systems.
Originally, these were written using VB
and MS Access/VBA. Back end databases were typically SQL
Server or Jet. However, over time, we specialised in data
warehouse/web based applications, using SQL Server to
extract data from a variety of sources, build cubes where
appropriate, and then generating web reports and user
interfaces using ASP/XML.
During my time at Tate Bramald I was
promoted from Analyst/Programmer to Senior Developer and
Team Leader. I was responsible for planning, scheduling and
overseeing the work of the team, for staff recruitment, and
for a departmental budget, reporting directly to the
managing director. |
