Summary:

I am looking for work as a Desktop Support, 2/3rdnd Line support/Team Leader/Junior Project

Management role. My core skills are NT, Exchange and Compaq Hardware.

Current Employment June 2002 – Present

I am currently working for My Travel as a permanent employee (formerly Airtours) in the role of Senior Desktop Support Consultant. My current responsibilities include jointly looking after 40 (60 during summer) remote sites throughout the world. Setting up new networks throughout the world using NT4, Compaq servers/workstations, Cisco switches and routers. I have installed networks in the following destinations:  South America, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. Mentoring and assisting junior members of staff. Assisting in the design, planning and implementation of projects, including consolidating 3 major travel groups, backup strategies and security issues. Excellent references can be obtained from My Travel who I have worked with for some two years now as a contractor and a permanent employee. Foreign travel has also been a major part of my role.

Dec 2000 – February 2002:

I was employed by Airtours as a desktop support engineer; duties include the normal fault resolution, desktop builds, face to face queries, software and hardware installations etc. working at all levels from Security Officers to the CEO. I have been working with NT4 Server and workstation, Exchange 5.5 (multi site), Oracle (installations and upgrades), Ghost( Installations and PC snapshots), Windows 2000 professional & server admin, Backup Exec, SMS and all the usual packages associated with a large company. Airtours use only Compaq hardware so my Compaq Desktop skills have been enhanced yet again. Whilst this position was not as senior as my last Woolworth’s position I found that my customer facing skills were put to much greater use, having to deal with all levels of people.

Previous Contracts Feb 1999 – Nov 2000:

I was at Woolworth’s (again) where I had been working as a Technical Analyst. I have gained much experience from this contract, dealing with lots of hardware & software support & development. All projects required documentation which was provided by myself and is still in use today, one of them being a base build for NT servers, to which all Woolworth’s servers are now built. I have successfully implemented the following projects individually, only under direct control from the Project Manager:

Exchange 5.5 –      Designed, Planned & implemented the Upgrade of the entire Woolworth’s organisation from Exchange 5.0

Disaster Recovery – Designed, Planned & implemented Woolworth’s Disaster Recovery (NT Architecture)

Development Domain – Created a new Development domain for the purpose of testing

Diskeeper – Designed, Planned & implemented Woolworth’s defragmentation environment

SurfControl - Designed, Planned & implemented Woolworth’s Internet Control Software environment

Health & Safety – Designed, Planned & implemented Woolworth’s Health & Safety Software environment

Arcserve 2000 – Upgraded software from Arcserve version 6.5 to Arcserve 2000

Exchange 5.5 (E-Commerce) – Designed, planned and implemented Woolworth’s SAP CRM Internet Email software.

Assisted in the upgrade to all the Woolworth's servers (Rompaqs, Lights Out boards, Insight Agents, Integration server etc)

I had a lot of exposure to all forms of Compaq Servers/Workstations from the very old to the very new, from 6000’s to DL360’s and ML370’s etc. I also installed Cisco kit for the backup environment and as such have a full understanding of them.

Jan 1999- Jan 2000

I was back at Woolworth’s as they required a third helpdesk analyst as they were rolling out a new build which incorporates the Outlook client and they were moving away from application servers which meant a totally new build was required. I had been assisting with the 2nd line duties as the 3rd analyst that I was covering for, was seconded to another position.

Jan 1998 - Jan 1999

I worked for Guardian Royal Insurance for twelve months as a Desktop Support analyst implementing NT architecture alongside an MCSE, who took me under his wing and taught me everything that he knew. We successfully implemented the NT Architecture and now over 3000 people are using NT at Guardian as opposed to the OS2 architecture that they had. I supported the OS2 side of things as I used to have key skills in this area. This role included working with OS/2 Warp 4.0, Windows NT (Workstation), WFW 3.11 and the usual Microsoft products. Other products included bespoke software, mainframe software, AS400 and various other software specific as well Lotus Notes, Ccmail and the IBM suite of software.

Jul 1997 – Jan 1998

I had worked for Woolworth's PLC for 6 months in two positions. I started the contract as a Desktop Support Analyst/Administrator role. This role included working with OS/2 Warp 4.0, Windows NT 4, WFW 3.11 and the usual Microsoft products. Other products included bespoke software, mainframe software, AS400 and various other software specific to Woolworth's. After completion of this initial contract I was then offered a position on the Exchange Migration Team, helping to successfully migrate 2000 Users from a Mainframe Memo system to Microsoft Exchange. I was a 2nd support service to a MCSE who was handling the Exchange rollout, but for the last two months I continued the process alongside an Administration Team. My role was providing the Technical side to the role out, taking over from the MCSE.

Jun 1997 – Jul 1997

I have previously worked for Siemens Business Services, which is a sister, company of Siemens Nixdorf. I worked there as a Helpdesk Analyst, using Windows NT Workstation 4.0, Exchange, SMS etc. I have excellent references from the Manager and have been offered 3 permanent contracts with them, even after I left. Unfortunately they are located in Cardiff and I could not relocate as my wife was studying in Manchester.

Jun 1994 – Jun1997

I worked at the Benefits Agency as an IT Support Administrator. Further details can be advised….
