I
relish new experiences and new knowledge, be it learning
about a new technology, arriving in a new country, or
meeting new people. If I enjoy it, I immerse myself in it,
I’m never afraid to give it a go. You have to enjoy what you
do, if your not then move on. I would rather work with an
inspiring leader who takes chances, than take the
comfortable route up the career
ladder.

I
am always trying to incorporate new and different
experiences into my life. after my undergraduate degree,
I still felt very naïve about the opportunities the
outside world had to offer. For three years I travelled
through New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia, China,
Mongolia, Central Asia and South America, developed my
interest in the unusual. Having to adapt quickly to
different cultures and situations developed my
imagination, resourcefulness and skills, turning me into
a well rounded and better informed person. A detailed
account and photos of my time abroad can be found
at.................
Keeping fit and healthy is a key element in my life.
Rugby, running and cycling keep me in shape, but
alternative activities such as surfing, snowboarding and
mountain biking are my preferred pursuits. I’m always
looking to experience new sports and after reaching two
6000m summits in South America, larger expeditions are
part of my future plans.
Travelling developed an interest in photography,
cultural diversity and Spanish. Immersing myself into a
foreign culture and language is an experience I intend
to fulfil. |

·
I
have demonstrated strong research and analysis skills
during my academic and project work.
·
I
am familiar with extended projects requiring good
organisational skills, communication of ideas and
efficient use of time in small or large groups. I have
never missed a deadline. I am often complemented on my
ability to listen and reason.
·
I
am proficient in the use of Windows,98-XP, office
applications, AutoCad, internet resources, statistical
programmes.
·
Green Card and Minestar health and safety, Australia. |

·
Detailed research and report writing, and presentations
to groups of up to 50 during multiple projects such as;
Rolls-Royce Trent series high pressure turbine blade,
European Powder Metallurgy research project, Innovation
sources and technology trajectories in sports equipment,
Innovation improvements at COSi Cosmetics. These
projects taught me the value of client relations,
clarity and communication. Without a clear understanding
of each others objectives, the project is worthless.
·
Interviews, discussions and communication during
projects developing my people skills and research
capabilities. Teaching at Fox Language School, Sucre
Bolivia (June 2006) developed my communication
skills and confidence.
·
Problem solving capabilities and independent thought for
myself and the direction of others were developed at
Ken Touff Construction Ltd (Dec 2004-Mar 2005, where
I rose to a supervisory role requiring good people and
time management skills, along with a commitment to
meeting deadlines. Problem solving and independent
thought were also key attributes at Coral View Hotel,
Airlie Beach (April 2005) during my involvement in
the redevelopment of the hotel grounds.
·
I
have extensive experience dealing with and satisfying
customer requirements. Forming part of a vibrant and
innovative service, tuctuc, Brighton (Oct-Dec 2006)
developed my customer satisfaction skills and enthusiasm
to please. These were also key attributes at Alpine
Lodge Youth Hostel (Mar-Oct 2004) in which I formed
part of a small team responsible for every aspect of its
running; from sales, accounting, promotion and customer
hospitality. Canterbury of Queenstown (Mar-Oct 2004)
also required extensive customer and accountancy skills
and trustworthiness.
·
I’ve never been afraid to take on a job and relish a new
challenge. McKay Drilling, Kalgoorlie Australia
(May-Jun 2005) helped me to develop a good work
ethic, in an environment where hard work is rewarded.
Working as a driller’s off-sider, I spent a month
prospecting for gold twelve hours a day, seven days a
week. Also, involvement in Farm work (Summer
2001)(Jul-Sep 2003)(June 2005) from a young age gave
me a range of practical skills and an appreciation of
alternative working lifestyles. Everywhere I have been,
I have made a mark. My first job at the age of thirteen
was to clean and maintain the local pub on weekend
mornings, and to ensure that there was adequate fire
wood available Red Lion Llanbedr (95-2000). |
