[snip] are a 50 year old manufactures of chocolate coating machines with a world wide market, as the Engineering – Sales Manager it was my role to not only run the factory but to improve the out dated machines and to make them more marketable.

¨       Redesigned parts of the machine to improve manufacturing time and found new suppliers for parts saving 3k per machine.

¨       Looked at the software HMI and PLC control and made savings of 2k

¨       Set up new Health and Safety system within the company.

                        ENGINEERING DESIGN DIRECTOR        

Appointed Director with brief to manage design, specification and manufacturing unit. Manufacturer of bespoke stainless steel and aluminium equipment for food and pharmaceutical industries.  

¨       Designed complete specification for conveyor handling system, its innovative design and reliability led to repeat orders for new systems; business worth £200k.

¨       Designed and developed innovative ‘flapjack cutter machine’ for a cake company giving 20% increase in production capacity, coupled with reliability of production eliminating previous lost time due to machinery breakdown. Requested to design new machine to cut flapjacks in tray, further increasing production by over 20%. 

1999 – 2003    [snip], Birmingham

PROJECT & ENGINEERING DESIGN MANAGER

Headhunted to join this manufacturer and supplier to the food industry with brief to help market overseas supplier’s equipment and improve systems within company. 

¨       Intensive negotiation with Australian manufacturer to sell their ‘salad drying machines’ within the UK and act as their agents.

¨       Reduced costs of manufacturing ‘food standard conveying systems’ across the range to cover different food sectors including salads, chickens, meats, etc.

1993 – 1999    [snip] (UK) Ltd - Wrexham

            CHIEF ENGINEER

Headhunted with brief to construct and set up new factory for this Dutch owned company in nine months to manufacture and supply frozen meals to the Airline and retail industry; budget £750k.

¨       Introduced Building Energy Management and heat recovery systems to factory design saving 10% of annual heating costs.

¨       Negotiations of contracts with energy suppliers saving £20k costs in first year.

¨       Managed commissioning of the plant and machinery, setting up of factory process systems and recruitment of staff and factory in production; accomplished in eight months, one month ahead of schedule.

¨       Installation of effluent treatment plant, steam boiler, ammonia refrigeration systems with associated safety systems incorporated.

                        FACTORY ENGINEER

Promoted with brief to control all aspects of factory engineering in this £7.5m ready meal factory.  Managed seven Engineers.

¨       Researched, designed and installed biological effluent treatment system received ‘highly recommended’ accolade in the ‘Business of the Environment Award’ by the Prince of Wales.

¨       Installed £900k ammonia refrigeration system, complete with alarm installation and evacuation procedures.
