Responsibilities included the programme management of projects totalling over £10million, operation of systems supporting up to 15,000 installations 24x7, research and development of new digital service offerings, SLA negotiation and management, technical customer support, security, scalability and quality control of all web based services. Recruited and managed an in-house team of 25 plus third party and offshore application developers. The Company was closed by Nomura Bank when it subsequently sold its estate of public houses.

Major Achievements:

·      Turned around and successfully completed ahead of schedule a failing Oracle ERP implementation, saving over £250k by the introduction of improved processes and procedures.

·      Integrated multiple supplier systems using Microsoft Biztalk, EDI and XML. Operational systems included Webridge (C#) and Microsoft .Net e-commerce, Oracle ERP, Java Portal and MIS Data Warehouse.

·      Managed the rollout to 600 sites of a PC, Printer, Clarity EPOS system, ADSL Internet access to owned VISP service and comprehensive training. 

2000 – 2001               CTO, [snip], London

An Internet on TV and T-commerce service intended for launch in 2001, in partnership with [snip]. Reporting to the CEO, responsibilities included implementing a programme of technology projects in the UK, USA and Asia. The company was closed by [snip] following a change of corporate strategy for Web ventures and financial pressure from the failure of ITV Digital TV.

·       Led and successfully implemented various projects including a portal development in London, set top box manufacture in Singapore, browser development in California, bespoke E-CRM system in North Carolina, Integration and scalability testing in Boston and retail product distribution in the UK.

Business and technical consulting to media and communications industries in EMEA, including digital and interactive television, publishing, data broadcasting, broadband Internet services, service and content providers. Responsibilities included advising clients on infrastructure projects, business transformation, change management, business process design, customer care and billing, market positioning, convergence issues (e.g. PDA & PVR devices), digital asset management, IT strategy, Web strategy and e-business.

Represented [snip] technology management in a joint venture start-up, with a staff of 12. Responsible for planning, implementing and managing the IT, operational systems and infrastructure requirements of a Satellite broadcast company offering the UK's first interactive (T-commerce) digital TV services including the management of IT staff, Andersen, Cap Gemini and Oracle consultants, supplier management, budget management, contract negotiation, project control and policy definition.

Major Achievements:

·       Selected and implemented various business system packages, corporate infrastructure build, outsourced customer call centre and facilities management.

·       Led the development of Interactive TV advertising solutions.

·       Led the design of a large Oracle data warehouse and Call Centre CRM system.

Reporting to Group Head of IT with 45 staff, responsible for the programme management and operation of systems supporting all areas of the satellite TV broadcasting business.

Major Achievements:

·       Re-structured within one year a previously under-resourced department to recruit and retain high calibre staff and gain the confidence of 1500 users by providing urgently needed replacement business systems.

·       Managed multiple concurrent systems development projects, in-house and out-sourced, using a RAD DSDM approach, including the introduction of a data warehouse and decision support strategy, airtime sales and transmission scheduling, pay-per-view billing, music rights, studio management and cable sell-on systems.

·       Conducted a strategic review of systems and business processes to handle extensive subscriber and channel business growth, to prepare for the introduction of digital television and to ensure systems were year 2000 compliant.
