PERSONAL PROFILE
A successful and self-motivated
senior IT Manager who has a wealth of experience gained
internationally in Infrastructure and Application
Programme Management in the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia.
He has enjoyed success managing major Programmes in
various countries in Infrastructure, Development and
Outsourcing for international “blue chip” companies over
the past 20 years. He has a business orientation with a
focus on Application Development and Change Management
and the planning, introduction and implementation of
Business and IT Strategies.

Personal Loan system and change of “Back Office” Platform and
Infrastructure for a Credit Card Issuing Company in Bangkok,
Thailand. Successfully completed the project in August working
comfortably with suppliers from Australia and UK.
October 2002 to March 2003:
Requested to provide IT Consultancy to a Government Company. I
audited and advised on IT Technical issues for
Operational and Executive IS Systems.
A Non-disclosure agreement is in force.
September 2002
Lead analyst for “Due Diligence” of [snip] (Malaysia). My
client successfully obtained the contract to redevelop the
Utility.
August 2002:
Provided general advice and consultancy to [snip], Hong Kong
after the ‘Chapter 11’ of their Billing Software supplier.
March 2002 to July 2002:
[snip], (South Africa). IT Consultant for the optimisation
of the use of IT in their business. This included Development
and Package Selection, Management of third party providers,
Strategic Planning, CRM, Disaster Recovery and Business
Continuity and Executive IS and Client/Server Technology.
Reported to the Board. My recommendations were accepted and
successfully carried out.
February 2001 to February 2002:
Successfully completed a full review of Services, Facilities and
organisational structures within a Private Hospital Group from
an IT and Patient viewpoint. Presented findings to the board and
oversaw the Programme/Project planning and team selection.
December 2000 to January 2001:
At their request, provided Professional Consultancy and
Programme Management Services to [snip], Singapore and Malaysia
on an in-sourced Data Centre strategy for their customer.
Reviewed their strategy and provided guidance and alternatives
to support their contract application.
April 2000 to November 2000:
Programme Manager responsible for analysing, defining and
implementing the short term Data Centre Strategy for [snip] in London. Managed the tactical and strategic activities
required to relieve the risks inherent in a multiple Data Centre
environment. During this Programme the strategy was defined, the
number of strategic data centres/MERs was decreased from 29 to
three; one of these was extended in capacity and one
refurbished. A new Data centre was commissioned and more
resilient ATM and “dark fibre” networks developed.
August 1998 to Jan 2000:
Chosen to be the Y2K Infrastructure Programme Manager for
[snip] responsible for achieving Y2K compliance in all 29
Offices in London, Frankfurt and South Africa.
Successfully led a team of forty project managers and technical
staff to successfully achieve compliance with no problems over
the rollover period. The infrastructure covered Voice and Data
communications, ATMs, Unix, AIX and NT Client/Servers and all
associated hardware and software components such as Unix, SWIFT
et cetera. Planning took into account the IT strategy for
Europe.
1997 to 1998:
At the request of a Director of United Utilities, provided IT
Consultancy to United Utilities International Division on the
strategic direction and cost effective business solutions
to IT departments in various Utility companies world-wide; (e.g.
Philippines) where United Utilities, individually
or in joint ventures secured concessions to provide the
services. Where necessary, took line control of the IT function
as in Manila until a full time manager was selected and
appointed.
Provided Resource and Financial management skills to a major
Billing Programme in United Utilities Plc.
1990 to 1997:
Held the positions of Quality Manager and Standards Manager at
United Utilities in a large client/server environment and
providing a consultancy and line management service in EQA,
Quality Assurance, Expert Systems, Productivity Improvement,
Strategic Planning and Systems (Business) Design and
Architecture.

Consulted to [snip] of SA Ltd in Johannesburg and the
Government of Bophutaswana on Expert Systems. Successfully
trained 40 people in Expert Systems Development.
1988 - 1990

Held the position of Systems Development Manager for the Group
Established the strategic development directions that ensured a
cost beneficial Systems Architecture which addressed User
requirements.
1977 – 1988:

Restructured and developed the Training Department to cater for
all I.S. training needs. Gained the acceptance of the Training

Major Activities
Member of the team that launched Credit Cards in South Africa
Launched a successful Salary Bureau for the [snip] of
South Africa as Project Manager.
Reviewed and recommended the strategy for the successful
introduction of SWIFT into the Bank
Assisted [snip] Banks in the establishment of two
commercial Banks in South Africa (The New Republic Bank and The
African Banking Corporation) by developing and providing
comprehensive manuals of instructions for the bank staff
