Infrastructure Engineer

Managing and maintaining the infrastructure for the UK and level 3 support for escalated problems through a three tier support system. Day to day roles involve ensuring maximum uptime to the business on all core systems, designing and implementing new ideas, identifying areas of weakness and redesigning current infrastructure to better use resources.

The main software technologies I was responsible for implementing and maintaining are Windows NT domain, Win2k/2k3 AD, Exchange 5.5, Mcafee Virusscan enterprise, CA Etrust, Vertias BackupExec, Microsoft ISA 2000, MIME Sweeper, Microsoft SQL, FreeBSD. Hardware technologies include servers from Dell/HP (Poweredge 1650/1750/1850/2650 and DL320/360/380) utilising the latest hardware SAN (Powevault 900 and MSA500/1000) units in clustered environments, Cisco switches (Catalyst 2950/2948/3550/4000/6509) and routers (2600) and Cisco PIX (PIX 520 and 525) firewalls.
