Working Career

[snip] (contract: October 2005 – present day) 

Working within the [snip] Integration department for the Criminal Justice Department 

This contract role is based within a secure Data Centre

Integrating the Criminal Justice Departments secure online system, to a new data centre with new hardware.

The current hardware service contract was due for renewal. CJIT decided to move the entire infrastructure to a new  secure data centre.

Building complete 2003 Server systems (two rigs – one for Production, the other for Pre-Production)

Each rig comprises of 23 servers.

Building, testing and configuring the following configurations:

4 node SQL 2000 Cluster - with EMC SAN connectivity for Quorum, data tables and transaction logs

2 node Application Cluster – with EMC SAN connectivity for Quorum and Application data

2 MOM 2005 servers for monitoring and reporting of server hardware, application and database alerting.

1 Exchange 2003 Server, 4 ISA 2000 servers, 2 Biztalk 2002 Enterprise servers, 2 Portal servers and 8 further 2003 Enterprise Servers.

Backup of Servers and SAN are through NetBackup utilising a clarion array configured as virtual tape devices.

Within this position, I built and configured the servers and all applications to strict CJIT requirements.

On completion of the build process, Penetration Testing and application testing, the system was then tested by CJIT for  user acceptance testing.

The new system has now successfully gone live and the decommissioning of the old servers in the old data centre have begun, whilst we also support the new infrastructure. 

Due to the nature of this role, I have signed the official secrets act.

[snip] (HMCE) (contract: Dec 2004 – Oct 2005) 

Working within the e-Business development team. 

This contract role is based within HMCE, supporting and designing the e-business infrastructure.

Currently designing and implementing the bridge between systems from HMCE – Inland Revenue.

Previous architecture included NT4.0 and 2000 Server (mixed mode)

New infrastructure comprises of 2003 and 2000 servers in web farms (clustered)

Now changing to HMRC (Her Majesties Revenue and Customs – as of April this year)

Through this position I am now CTC (Counter Terrorist Check – MOD) cleared.

Granting me access to MOD protectively marked material up to and including Confidential assets. 

Due to the nature of this role, I have signed the official secrets act.

[snip] (contract: 2003 – 2004) 

Working as the team leader of the AIS support team. 

The main contracts that I supported were: 

CIS Internet LTD (www) Design and implementation of the [snip] web farm. 

The [snip] site is a 39 server solution, 20 of which are clustered web servers, 2 SQL 2000 clustered databases, 4 ISA servers (for there image web cache functionality), 2 chat servers, 2 payment servers (secure SSL), 4 tool servers, 2 mail servers, 1 NAS and 2 admin servers (utilized for backups and administration of the site)

Through [snip] I now support there daily server / site maintenance. 

[snip]: Design and implementation of there UK wide WAN configuration.

[snip] has multiple offices across the UK and Europe.

There entire network is routed through there London office, all remote offices have there own Exchange server attached    to the single [snip] domain.

Through [snip] I now support there daily support for Citrix, Network, Domain controllers and Exchange servers. 

[snip]: (Collective of 5 insurance companies) Design and implementation of there London office LAN and domain.

[snip] have 800 workstation users in there London office.

Through [snip] I designed and implemented there entire office Active Directory, based on the 2003 Server OS.

User’s workstations were ranging from NT4.0, 2000 Professional and XP professional.

[snip] now support there infrastructure 24/7. 

[snip] is primarily a troubleshooting and support company.

This Role, for a successful Managed Hosting company first started in there London – UK data centre/office

From there I was transferred to there main office in San Antonio TX.

Dealing with varying customer server configurations, supporting there servers operating system, hardware and third party applications*.

Where uptime and customer quick issue resolutions are of the highest priority.

Administrated NT4.0, 2000 and 2003 along with some Linux and FreeBSD experience.
