[snip]
Performed requirements gathering, scoping,
analysis, design and (partial) development of a Web Based Work
Orders system for one of [snip] clients.
This was a workflow
system that would enable IT Infrastructure managers to define,
monitor and control the flow of work through their departments
initiated by various, in-house, server/cabling installation
requests.
The following functional prototypes were
built:
·
Workflow Designer.
Desktop application used to define the steps necessary to
fulfil installation requests (i.e. define the workflows/business
rules)
·
Workflow Control Panel.
Desktop application used to monitor and control
workflows/business rules at run time.
·
Work Orders.
Intranet application used to host and run the workflows.
The project was cancelled, along with all such projects, when
[snip] (another cabling/comms company) bought [snip] in March
and moved the focus onto their core business – cabling.
Technology used: .NET 3, C#, SQL Server 2005, Winforms,
UML, WMI
Methodology: Unified Process / Agile

[snip] needed a Contact Management System with extensive Private
Equity/Investor capabilities, beyond what could be provided by
any MS Outlook Add-Ins or extensions.
I ported their
Exchange contact folder details into a normalised SQL Server
database and built a system that:
·
Records and tracks investor
details (private equity finance, total funds under management,
existing competitor commitments, their involvement in [snip]
funds, potential investment range).
·
Assesses the value of contacts
and relationships.
·
Integrates with Outlook.
Technology used: C#, Winforms, MSMQ, SQL Server
2000/2005, UML, MS Office/VBA, Exchange 2000, NUnit, BizTalk
2004, VS 2003/2005
Senior Analyst / Consultant
March 1998 – Jan 2005
[snip]
Provided analysis,
design and consultancy to a variety of [snip] customers. Major
assignments and clients included:
·
[snip]
Responsible for
technical consultancy and development of Intranet/internet
systems. Managed two developers on the FileTracker system and
one on the Customer Tracking system.
Notable projects
included:
·
Customer Tracking system:
Enables [snip] staff to track, monitor and report on enquires
for new / renewal business and budget brokerage. Achieved major
improvement in the control and monitoring of work in progress
and reduced the administrative overhead inherent in the previous
manual systems.
·
Industry Analysis & Research (IAR) system:
Enables the IAR team to perform risk, income statement, balance
sheet and ratio analyses on over 300 insurers and provide a
“[snip] rating” for each one in the same manner as Standard&Poors
and Moodys.
·
FileTracker:
A document requesting/tracking system used to track/order
physical documents throughout all [snip] offices, with bar code
printing/scanning for speedy library administration.
·
.NET Framework Presentation:
Presentation to the IS team covering .NET Framework, Common
language runtime, System Class Library, CTS, Web Forms, Server
Controls and Web Services.
·
XML Message board system:
Prototyped an XML/XSL system to demonstrate XML’s abilities to
structure data and XSL’s ability to render it.
Technology used: C#, webforms, SQL Server 2000 (T-SQL,
DTS),
XML,
Web Services, ASP, IIS, UML, VB 6, MS Office/VBA
Methodology: Unified Process / Agile
·

·
Investigated ways to link a French taxation/rating module, used
by [snip] Paris office, into [snip] UK Commercial Lines system
in order to implement the UK system in France. Produced a
report highlighting the design limitations of the UK system and
proposing a new 3-tier French Commercial Lines system based on
the French taxation/rating module.
·
Designed and developed the French Commercial Lines system
alongside the Paris office IS team.
·
Provided consultancy on VB, COM+ and ODBC.
