Solutions Delivered
·
Designed and delivered a
solution for a financial services/insurance broker adopting a
“data centre” strategy, centralising computer servers to a
single location, resulting in reduced administration costs.
Implemented a Citrix Metaframe (thin client technology) solution
over multiple sites using MPLS/Kilostream and ADSL communication
links. Initiated a network web interface to allow mobile (GPRS),
home and world wide access to central computer systems.

Changed network infrastructure
from a type 1 IBM cabled Token Ring structure to a fast switched
CAT5 Ethernet structure over IP. Telecommunications were then
routed across the cabling, enabling roaming DDI’s.
· Redesigning
the computer room and introducing an enhanced uninterrupted
power supply.
Network Management/Desktop Support

Managed and maintained client
(PC) server networks consisting of Novell Netware backbones with
Microsoft NT/2000 domains and Unix application servers.
Installed NT/2000 servers, SQL installations and upgrades.
Novell upgrades and service packs, as well as Citrix metaframe
configurations and roll-outs.

Managed a tight IT budget and
within this successfully upgraded hardware and software
requirements (MS Office/Lotus SmartSuite etc), Microsoft open
license agreements, SLA’s, hardware maintenance, network
backup’s and all IT purchasing.
Telecommunications

Introduced least cost routing,
saving the company a thee-figure sum in the first year.
· Maintained
Lucent/Avaya INDeX SDX PBX’s and made all programming changes to
systems over multiple sites. Also maintained various other
PBX’s SLA’s.
