I am a SOA Architect and Project Manager
with over 6 years SOA business and technical management
experience and 14 years total experience.
Over 14 years experience managing and
implementing complex business focussed solutions. Also,
previously a co-founder of a hosted SOA (Service Oriented
Architecture) platform company focussed on the financial
services industry, in particular financial supply chain
integration, life & pensions process integration.

a next generation hosted process integration (business process
management) solution utility service (in partnership with IBM)
based upon a service oriented architecture model (SOA). The
service was created to help organisations in the financial
services industry interoperate processes in the technology stack
without the need to replace their existing system and creating

My previous work has also included managing
strategic implementations and development teams from inception
to delivery for financial services clients. This includes
integration solutions, Service Oriented Architecture and
straight through processing. Have also worked on developing

- To develop a high level business and technical strategic architecture (focussed
on an SOA) that fits into the bank future technical architecture.
- Working with teams at all levels within the bank to develop a new business
division to manage a transformation programme
- Worked on the front-to back solution impacting around 22 different systems
across the bank and integrate processes around and SOA architecture
- Work on the development of a tactical solution to leverage the current systems
and infrastructure within the bank; my tasks were to work with the team to
initially gather requirements.

Role: Senior Project Manager, Hedge Fund of Funds Business
Key objectives included:
- Working with the management team to develop the vision and strategy for
improving and enhancing both client services and operational aspects of the bank
for the hedge fund of funds business.
- Managing the selection and implementation of an enterprise wide portfolio/asset
management system across [snip] global organisation in London, Geneva and New
York.
- Managing the implementation of the hedge fund of funds business of the bank
covering front/middle and back office.
- Managing internal and external development teams for the enhancement of the
product to be implemented at the bank.
- Working for the COO for this strategic project for the bank with my reporting
line into the London
- Managing a total anticipated budget of £4m and a team of internal and external
(i.e. vendor) staff of around 10 people between the different sites.
My tasks included project managing the improvements in client reporting. Responsibilities include working with the IT, Infrastructure, production and
development teams to implement and integrate the new package(s) within the
bank. The bank’s standard development environment is .NET using the Microsoft
suite of tools including Visual Basic, C#, VBA etc.
The organisation uses a matrix management structure using ITIL, SAFE and RUP
methodologies for development and implementation.
Background [snip] are the world’s 2nd largest hedge fund of fund managers with nearly $32bn
under management. It is also one of the top 10 Swiss Private Banks with total
assets around CHF100bn. [snip] are a family owned private bank with client

Key achievements include:
- Managing three streams of work, 2 development and one production support.
- Matrix managing a team of 15 people across the UK and US for the development of
an underwriting system in Java and .Net. An extension to an existing package
sold into the organisation.
- Developed and managed detailed project plan to manage a software development
team for more than 2000 man days of effort.
- Managed a total of £5million budget including estimating calculating and
controlling where budget was spent.
- Worked with the client to develop a internet and service oriented architectural
approach to develop the solution
- Leading the client relationship at client site and working with senior
management both internal (within the software house) and within the client.
Methodologies used in the two streams of work are the Rational Unified Process
and PRINCE II. The technical environment includes databases such as DB2 and
Oracle. Development is done in Java/J2EE/EJBs running on IBM Websphere
Application Servers. Interfacing is done using XML into all systems. All
systems are browser based to reduce the deployment complexity of applications.
Background [snip] are part of [snip], the large US insurance company. [snip] have a suite
of products to implement front-to-back office for the management of life
business. L&G have engaged in a two year strategic programme to implement a
leading edge solution for life insurance underwriting. [snip] customers include

September 2005-October 2005 (Short Term Assignment) [snip] Role: Business Strategy and Implementation Consultant
Key Achievements include:
- Perform a market assessment of the Treasury Software Systems market place. This
included assessing the market needs, building marketing plan, determining new
functionality to be developed and writing a business plan to be presented to
users.
- Wrote a Business strategy and business plan for the Treasury software business
and presented to board level
- Dealt with senior directors in the business, to assess the future viability of a
treasury management system.
My further role was to work with the senior operational risk consultants to work
with investment banking and asset management clients in helping assess, create
and implement operational risk models for clients.
Background This is a niche consultancy and vendor selling operational risk consultancy and
products to financial services markets (including investment banking and asset
management). Their product set also includes a treasury management system,

- Architecting solution for the implementation of a package for clients
- Created a project plan for the development of customised software in Java in
addition to the core functionality of package to be implemented

Key achievements include:
- Successfully managed the implementation of global equity derivatives and equity
brokerage systems in the front office (Sophis Risque).

- Matrix managed a technical and business team for the implementation of an
equity research system between Frankfurt and London
- Wrote a strategy and solutions document presented to the COO and Head of IT for
the Frankfurt branch of the bank to implement a research system.
- Created a project plan containing work on process design, programme design, data
migration, tool evaluation, installation and support.
Collected requirements, designed the systems and managed the implementation of
the first web intranet site for the bank with development teams in London.
