This was an
initial six month contract, extended (currently three times) to
2 years.
Supporting
and developing additional modules for core business systems.
Projects include:

Conversion and migration of 30 spreadsheets and Access
databases into an SQL 2000 database. This included
manipulating the data using SQL, VBA and VB code. I also
managed the data cleansing process which was performed by
members of the project team. Address information was
validated using Quick Address Pro api and Visual Basic code.

The
specification, development, training, support and
enhancement of a querying/ reporting tool. This enabled the
users to create and run their own reports. This was
developed using Visual Basic 6 with a SQL server 2000
backend.

The
specification and development of a document management
system, which is used to scan, index and store received
application forms. This application was developed using
Visual Basic 6 and SQL server and it also used a Canon 80
page per minute scanner.

During
this time I have been heavily involved with developments of
the core CRM system adding functionality to this using SQL
server features such as stored procedures.

Contract
work within the Business Change Team developing and managing a
number of databases. This included creating databases (forms,
tables, queries, modules etc) as well as writing data
manipulation programs with Visual Basic 6 to convert data from
legacy systems to the new SQL Server databases.

Contract to
extract data from a Pick based D3 system. The data was then
manipulated using Excel VBA macros.

Contract to
amend and enhance an existing Access database to produce new
reports and exports into Excel. This contract involved writing
queries, forms, and VBA code in Access, writing VBA code in
Excel to manipulate and format the Access data export. When the
new functions were signed off and on completion, I was involved
in completed technical and user documentation, allowing clients
to maintain the system..

Developing a
number of new Access databases for a subscription based
magazine. Data was converted from Legacy systems and from
external sources using Excel macros and Access modules/queries.
This was an ongoing project involving several short term
contracts.

[snip] on an Access 97 database development for a major
foreign bank. My role was to ‘tidy and bug fix’ the system.
This contract was initially for three days. However, this was
extended to a total of two months. My main roles in this
contract were:

This was a
permanent role with [snip] who are the second largest
distributors of magazines in the UK. A joint venture between
BBC, EMAP and Haymarket publishing, employing approximately 220
people. Whilst there I was promoted though a number of roles
within the Technical Support and Business Systems teams.

Developed
reporting system using Access 2000 to measure the effectiveness
of aŁ3 million sales initiative. System imported data from
Oracle database into a standalone Access system using a series
of calculations and reports to provide information to Directors.

Developed
Sales Based Replenishment prototype system written in Visual
Basic to run complex algorithms to predict the sales and supply
of magazines into individual retailers. This system took EDI
data from an Oracle data warehouse and imported it into another
Oracle database. This system used ftp to transfer data from
Head Office to remote wholesale sites.

Designed
advanced spreadsheets for a number of business areas including
Excel VBA macros.

Managed
procurement, implementation and customization of [snip]
helpdesk system.

Defined and
developed suite of management reports in Crystal Reports against
an Oracle database with Visual Basic 6 front end to provide
statistics from Help Desk system liaising with the Help Desk
Manager and business users to gather requirements.

Visual Basic e-mail notification server application for
[snip] to enable notification of call logging to users, this
system integrated with Outlook and MS Exchange.

Oracle database from Windows NT servers using Crystal Reports to

for producing reports from core business systems based on users
specifications and requirements using SQL against Oracle and
