Technical expertise
CAD:
2D, 3D and Solid Models. Surface and Wire-frame translation
techniques using DXF, IGES,
CADDS5, STL and other standards. Fully conversant with the
Ashlar-Vellum CAD system.
Jig and Tool design including fixtures and machine
modifications. Plan layouts and schemes.
CAM:
CNC Programming, machine code and using source to create
programmes from 2D through 5-Axis and Surface technology
machining. Macro and specialist code writing. Post Processor
writing, requiring extensive knowledge of controls e.g. Fanuc,
Siemens, Olivetti, GE etc. Experienced in commissioning new CNC
machine tools.
CAE:
Simulation and Verification packages such as NCSimul and to a
lesser extent Vericut. Introduced NCSimul to Smiths and
developed the system in conjunction with the vendor for use in
simulating various 5-axis machining centres.

project timing. Responsible for co-ordinating and managing
several eRoom websites where high-level and sensitive project
data records were posted.

Systems Manager / Production
Engineer
Management of the engineering computer systems with emphasis on
CADCAM and CAE. Involved in all aspects of Production
Engineering for the company, with responsibility for ensuring
all projects had the required resources and were completed on
time and to budget.
Responsible for developing and overseeing manufacturing methods
for the airframe machining department and acting as a consultant
and technical support for two other divisions.
Wrote customised software programmes: A major success being a
project for the A340-600 Airbus. I developed a manufacturing
method, created a technique to organise the information and then
wrote the software. To prove the companies capabilities I gave a
presentation of this procedure at Airbus UK, which helped win a
major order. The continued use of this system led to follow up
orders spanning 6 years and was also used for the development
parts of the A380 ‘Super-Jumbo’.

improve and develop methods and set up an integrated engineering
system.
