Faster
Payments project
The Society has committed itself to be a participating
member of the faster payments scheme when it becomes
operational in November 2007. The scheme will enable
payments made between participating financial
institutions to be processed in “near real-time”.
Primarily defined the requirements to account for faster
payments within the Society’s general ledger using the
in-place accounting infrastructure. Put in place an
accounting framework that would deal with faster
payments and which was sufficiently robust to cope with
other payment schemes when transferred onto the
infrastructure. Main activities were:
·
Reviewed and questioned the overall rules
and procedures governing the scheme and established
those relevant to Nationwide’s own proposition.
·
Defined analysis products for own
work-stream, planned the delivery and agreed timescales
with the project manager.
·
Facilitated workshops to identify the
accounting requirements for faster payments.
·
Documented and managed the accounting
business and functional requirements.
·
Managed and influenced the decision-making
process to ensure that the performance levels demanded
were not compromised by the accounting requirements.
·
Ensured that the accounting facilitated
the scheme settlement and the internal reconciliation
processes.
·
Raised Change Requests to enhance the
accounting infrastructure as necessary.
Payments
Distribution & Accounting Programme (PD&A)
The Society’s £17m PD&A programme is set to deliver a
single, flexible BizTalk based infrastructure to handle
the distribution & accounting of all payments received
and made.
Led a small team of analysts in specifying the
infrastructure that would enable payments to be
accounted for within the Society’s general ledger.
Achieved successful delivery of the specification within
the project timescales. Main activities were:
·
Identified the products to be delivered,
and oversaw successful delivery by the team.
·
Facilitated workshops with the relevant
stakeholders to identify the business requirements and
processes, and documented within a Requirements
Catalogue, and with a Use Case model, ‘flow of event’
narratives and Class model.
·
Defined the functional requirements using
system Use Cases, augmented by Activity diagrams,
Sequence diagrams and State diagrams produced with MS
Visio, and modeled the data within the Systems Architect
case-tool.
·
Worked closely with the business area and
the system developers to ensure that the solution would
satisfy the business requirements whilst meeting
technical constraints.
·
Worked with user management to aid their
understanding of the operational changes that would be
required in both the short and long-term.
·
Supported the development and the system &
user acceptance testing activities. |
