Professional Experience
-
Presently working as Project Engineering Manager with a
European Company in Bangkok, Thailand. This is a regional
position managing a team of 60 engineers throughout the Asia
Pacific. Based out of the Regional Headquarters and
reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the job
focuses on taking complete responsibility of the assigned
projects in the Asia Pacific region, formation and guidance
of project teams, communications with the customer and own
management, timely and within budget execution of the
assigned projects. Additionally, active participation in
problem solving, trouble – shooting and application software
development is also part of the daily work. The job also
includes providing engineering / design services,
consultancy, project management, hardware and software
engineering, on – site commissioning, technical service,
technical sales support and business development activities
in the field of industrial automation and process control
systems. Proactive development and implementation of the
above is prime.

Worked
as Senior Technical Officer (Power Group) with [snip]. (an
AECOM Operating Company) at their Melbourne office between
29th May, 2006 and 7th August 2007.
They are a multi – disciplined engineering company serving
clients in power and energy, transport engineering, advisory
and planning, minerals and industry, defence and environment
sectors. My job was to program PLCs for the clients’
terminal stations. Also I had to design control panels,
write logic diagrams and control schematics. I was
preparing control mapping tables for the control and
instrumentation as well as related primary and secondary
equipment. I had to prepare detailed schemes for
integrating the PLCs with local HMI (Citec), RTU and remote
SCADA. Preparing detailed documentation in accordance with
company’s as well as clients’ standards was also part of
everyday job.

Worked
as Manager (Electrical) with [snip]. Thailand between
19th April, 2004 and 20th May, 2006.
They are designers and turnkey suppliers for ceramic plants,
machines for agricultural industry and hospital equipment
with offices and factories in Thailand, Italy, China, Iran
and Hong Kong with around 90% of sales by way of export.
This position was the functional department head and prime
responsibility was to design, plan and supervise production
of electrical control panels within the time schedules. The
job scope included occasional interacting with customers for
discussing and freezing electrical specifications and
clarifying their queries. The job responsibility also
included writing PLC (Omron) programs and Touch Screen (Fuji
/ Omron) applications by integrating many 3rd
party equipment like AC drives (Fuji / Omron), weighing (MT)
and flow (Danfoss) applications, purchase planning and
starting up Ceramic factories. Apart from this I had to
supervise day to day administration, sending teams to sites
and HR issues related to my team of 30 – included assistant
managers, engineers and technicians. The job also required
involvement in catalogs and manual designing and providing
training to customer personnel.

Worked
as head of Electrical and Automation department with [snip]
Thailand between 12th January, 2004 and 12th
April, 2004. They are designers and manufacturers of SPMs
and conveying and material handling systems with factories
in Thailand, Malaysia and China and headquartered at
Singapore. The prime responsibility was to discuss the
concept with the prospect / customer together with CFT’s
sales personnel and supervise the costing and quote
preparation. After securing the job had to supervise the
detailed engineering and drawing preparation, discuss the
drawings with consultant / customer and get the drawings
approved. Supervised the manufacturing of panels / system,
PLC software development, testing and inspection,
installation, commissioning and after sales support at
site. Apart from this supervision of day to day
administration and HR issues related to electrical team.

Headed
Control and Automation between February 1999 and 31st
December, 2003. They are authorized engineering solutions
provider for Allen – Bradley range of products. Under my
leadership, they grew with projects worth INR 4m in the
first year of operations to INR 18 million at the time of my
quitting. The applications handled range from stand – alone
machine automation to automation, networking and integrating
the shop floor with MIS packages. The job entailed
extensive engineering, third party sourcing and integration
and providing trainings (both general and customized) to
customers’ as well as own staff apart from day to day office
administration and personnel affairs and keeping the
enterprise profitable and growing. Also added some new
ventures to the existing business. The Company was started
and I joined them before even the company was formed. I had
set the hi – tech office for the company and built the team
of over 20 people in all disciplines. I also brought in
various collaborations, including Rockwell Automation, and
did all the vendor development.

31st January, 1999 as Manager – Applications.
The job required designing panels using the new concept of
clip – on type bus bar systems of [snip] and train customers
on this innovative technology brought to India for the first
time. Managing day-to-day activities of the Indo – German
JV’s Delhi office as the senior most executive was my
additional responsibility.

Worked
with [snip] between 1st May, 1996 and 31st
December, 1997 as Deputy Manager – Engineering. The job
required me to take care of complete execution of E&I
projects taken by the company. These included both
pre-sales and post-sales activities. In addition, I
prepared the production, purchase and payment schedules
besides heading company’s manufacturing unit. The Company
was started and I joined them before even the company was
formed. I set the hi – tech office and state of the art
factory for the company and built the team of over 40 people
in all disciplines.

Worked
with [snip] (Delhi) Private Limited between 1st
September, 1993 and 30th April, 1996 as Project
Engineer – Automation. The job required me to design,
supervise manufacturing and commission the automation and
electrical panels at site.

Worked
with [snip] Limited between 27th June, 1989 and
25th August, 1993 as Assistant Service Engineer.
The job required me to test incoming material, assembled
PCBs and DC Drive panels, commission these at site and
provide after sales support. The applications ranged from
single colour offset printing machine to cold rolling mills
with tension control.
During these over eighteen years of rich
and extensive hands on experience, almost all projects were
executed under close scrutiny and inspection of large consulting
giants and project owners like EIL, PDIL, RITES, NTPC, SP Ausnet,
Howe, Uhde, Holtec, Desien, Bechtel, Flour Daniel, TCE, MECON,
Reliance, TCL, MRL, IFFCO, ONGC, GAIL, Emerson and the likes.
And all projects were executed well ahead of the project
deadline. These projects are well spread across the globe.
