Work Experience

Structural/Electrical Condition Surveyor – Jan 2007-Present
This role
involves working in the mobile telecommunications sector. My
duties are to travel to sites (covering the Midlands, Wales,
Devon and Cornwall and East Anglia) and conduct maintenance
inspection surveys for two of the biggest mobile
telecommunications companies in the country. These surveys cover
the structural and electrical conditions of the equipment and
include everything from antennae maintenance at site through to
inspection and maintenance of power supplies, ICNIRP compliance,
lightning conductors, fall arrest systems and even repair of
perimeter fences and weed control.
This can
involve climbing the towers using specialist climbing equipment,
I have passed an advanced climbers course as well as courses in
rooftop and RF awareness and tower rescue, or working at height
on rooftops, checking the state of the electrical connections
within the meter cabinet and any other task which we are
qualified to undertake, i.e. the testing of fall arrest systems
and issuing safe to climb certificates. The reports that we
produce are written into a PDA, so good communication skills are
essential, and sent to the Head Office who will forward them to
the company’s website. From this website we can access the
reports and complete them. Therefore being computer literate is
essential. These reports are covered by an SLA which often means
that we are working under pressure to ensure that these are
met.
[snip] – Customer
Service Assistant – Oct 2004-Jan 2007
Working at [snip]
has provided me with valuable customer service skills. There is
a need to deal with customers in a polite and friendly manner as
well as being a good listener and perceptive of the customers
needs. Providing assistance to both new and existing customers
often means being very patient and attentive in addition to
being a clear and concise communicator. I have also been called
upon to work in the goods in warehouse which involves receiving
and unloading the delivery. This can often be strenuous work
involving heavy lifting and carrying, however it is something I
am more than comfortable with. Working at [snip] has meant that
shift work is inevitable, including, on occasions, nights. This
is something I have found easy to adapt to.
