Imaging/Build &
Technical Consultant
The
project at [snip] (defence
and aerospace systems supplier)
is to develop a Windows XP Desktop Client automated build
process. I am the lead for the development and configuration
of the Desktop and Laptop Clients. I designed, built and
configured a Universal Client which is currently being
deployed to PC’s and Laptops with different hardware. The
process is scripted using ZenWorks 6.5 for deployment. The
Desktop and Laptop Clients are remotely deployed without
user intervention using Sysprep and scripts. I am also
responsible for packaging, testing and distributing
Applications using either ZenWorks, MSI packaging, deployed
via AD GPO’s aZen Application Launcher. Administered and
designed Group Policies within Active Directory.
Technologies used Novell 6.5, ZenWorks for Desktops 6.5,
Windows Server 2003 and XP, AD, e-directory, Console One,
MSI, WISE Installer, and VMWare. Also, configured Blackberry
installations. I have fully documented the processes and
created User Manuals for the client for ease of use.

Imaging/Build
Consultant
This
project was a complete cycle from pilot run all the way to
deployment. Initially we had to do a pilot run to check and
revise that all risks were reduced and that the rollout of
the system would be successful. I was responsible for the
build, imaging, testing and deployment of windows 2003
server across 200 servers. My main duty was as the Imaging
Stream leader responsible for the configuration, build,
imaging, testing and deployment of Windows 2003 Servers
using ADS (Automated Deployment Services), Altiris, Ghost
for Desktops, Sysprep. The servers were to be housed within
a “Lights Off” DataCentre environment.
I also designed
the automation of Server rollout and implemented and tested
baseline security using Group Policies as per client
recommendations. I also, had to run and test automated
rollout using Ghost and ADS as deployment tools within a
Pilot project which also included user Acceptance testing
and change management procedures. I had to Document the
entire process with relation to Build, Image, Deployment,
UAT, AD Policies etc.

Technical Consultant Active Directory
I was
involved near the end of the Windows NT to Windows 2000
migration project for over 1500 servers.
I also
Provided 3rd / 4th line server
support, as well server Installations using host and
sysprep. The other project I was involved in was the
installation, configuration and policy settings of MOM
(Microsoft Operations Manager) within Test/Pilot environment
before going live. Documented all procedures and any
problems. Provided telephone support when required.

Technical Lead/ Assistant Project Manager
I provided
Technical advice and co-managed the Windows XP Rollout project.
My main duties were the Installation and configuration of
ZenWorks 4.01 and Netware Servers. 3rd line support
issues and automated deployment of Windows XP to desktops. I
also managed a team of technicians across various sites. I was
responsible for the development & finalising the build
configuration before handover for User Acceptance testing
deployment. I configured the Group Policies for the XP desktop
and configured any registry settings.
We had to
test compatibility of applications before the rollout. MSI
packaging was for the applications and we tested deployment
using SMS. Ghost, RIS, SMS and sysprep were used within a test
environment.

duties included Auditing of hardware and software as well as
dealing with 3rd party suppliers,

Provided support before and after deployment of Windows XP

Technical Network/Projects Consultant (2001-2003)
I undertook
a range of contracts at the OFT site providing network support
as well as server configuration and maintenance. Design and
installation of networks and Windows XP desktop upgrade project.
I managed
the build and deployment of Windows XP across two sites and
identified any training requirements of helpdesk staff and
assisted in floor walking
I Was the
Technical lead for design and deployment of XP desktop. We used
Ghost and sysprep as well as RIS for desktops and SMS for
application deployment
I also 3rd
line technical support and managing and configuring on a mixed
Novell and Microsoft Network, ensuring that Service Level
Agreements were adhered to and advised on network implementation
and security issues.
I provided
remote support, troubleshooting LAN/WAN problems and producing
technical documentation. Provided pure Telephone support for a
period of 6 months, dealing with user issues. I was responsible
for the design and installation of a test network environment
replicating the live network for testing of Netware to Windows
2000 ADS and Windows XP rollout. We used different scenarios
involving different technologies for the Windows XP desktop
rollout.
