| Terms Of Service |
|
We must make you aware of our privacy & terms of service statement which should be read before acting on any information contained within this Web Site |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
How long has the service been operating? |
| |
This service was launched in 2002.
[top] |
| |
|
 |
Are you an independent company or part of a larger group? |
| |
We are completely independent and have no connection to any existing Agency or any other recruitment industry business. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
Where are your
client companies based? |
| |
Clients are based throughout the Country. When marketing to
clients, we are not localising our marketing. After all, the
candidate base is country wide. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
"You guys are not a charity", how do you make your money? |
| |
Our income comes from charging clients a finder's fee
or commission.[ top ] |
| |
|
 |
What guarantees do I have that I will obtain work? |
| |
None. We pass on your details to the
client, if your skills match those required by the client. The more specific the data provided to us, the more likely you are to have your details passed to a
client. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
What cut do you take from my work fees? |
| |
None. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
Who pays me? |
| |
If the client has used our
Contractor Introduction Service, they do, otherwise ITCD pays
you. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
Can I expect to earn more money? |
| |
Typical agency mark-up ranges from
10 to 35%. By negotiating your fee with the client, you have an
excellent opportunity to ensure that both you and the client
benefit from the transaction. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
Do you modify my CV in any way? |
| |
Your contact details are removed and
for obvious reasons we do reserve the right to suggest
alterations to, or reject, a CV if is badly written or contains any undesirable content.
Neither should your CV be set out as a standard job application:
the client wants to see your availability and flexibility, and
support service you may be able to offer after the engagement
has finished, any guarantees of quality and any offsite
services you may wish to offer. Don't be timid, sell
yourself [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
Can I ask that my CV not be sent to certain Companies? |
| |
Yes, we maintain an exclusion list for this purpose. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
Do you tell me when you send my details to a
client? |
| |
Yes. We email you. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
When you send my details to a
client, do you tell me who it is? |
| |
No. Part of the attraction of the service to
clients is that they are able to receive details of people who fit their vacancy requirements, and that they can then choose who they contact themselves.
Most clients do not want unsolicited phone calls. Their time is
as precious as yours. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
Do I have to pay any fees if the
client engages me, or re-engages me if I have worked for them before? |
| |
No.[ top ] |
| |
|
 |
If I
find alternative work, can I request my details not be sent out to
clients until I advise otherwise? |
| |
Yes, you can request this, or we can add a diary entry for you to resume at a certain date if you wish. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
If I work direct, do I need any special insurance? |
| |
You would be advised to take out professional and public liability insurance. Advice should be sought from a professional in this field, or from your Solicitor as to what liabilities you may have if you neglect to insure yourself adequately. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
Do I need to work through a Limited Company? |
| |
No, but bear in mind that a Ltd. Co. does historically have higher credibility with
clients. Indeed there are companies who will only negotiate with
other companies.[ top ] |
| |
|
 |
Can I join if I have a permanent job? |
| |
Yes. If you wish to take on
additional private work, and your regular employer is in
agreement. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
What if I am a homemaker, and wish to do some work at home? |
| |
You can still join. As long as clients are made aware of your situation, they can then decide if their work can be undertaken in this way. You may wish to read our home worker page. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
Can I work for more than one
client at once? |
| |
Yes. If you are a freelance, why
not? But always keep your clients informed.[
top ] |
| |
|
 |
Do I have to offer any guarantees to the
client? |
| |
No, but it may help you in any possible IR35 problem with the Inland Revenue if you did offer a guarantee on your work and if your Contract/Agreement with the
client stated that you would put right any errors at your own cost. This would also be attractive to the
client as you are bearing this risk (and you are demonstrating confidence in your own quality). [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
Where can I obtain a Contract/Agreement? |
| |
You have several options here; you could create you own (we
recommend professional approval before submission); you could
buy one 'off the shelf'; you may be able to locate one on the
internet (again, professional approval is recommended); or ITCD
can supply. Bear in mind that all clients will subject your
proposal to professional scrutiny [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
I have heard that some
clients take a long time to pay. How can I manage my cash flow? |
| |
You have a number of options here; You can speak with your Bank to request a Credit Line to bridge the gap between Invoicing and getting paid, or you could use a Factoring Company. Most UK Banks
use a factoring company - bear in mind that both these options cost, so you might want to factor this cost into your rate. Most Consultants negotiate the payment terms when they discuss their fee with the
client so you might want to add a clause regarding payment to your contract/agreement with the
client before commencing work. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
What if the
client refuses to pay? |
| |
As with any business arrangement, there is always the risk that a
client may refuse to settle an account. If this happens, you should try to resolve the problem with the
client directly in the first instance. If this still does not result in payment, you can (depending on the amount) pursue your claim through the Small Claims Courts.
If the non-payment is for client cash-flow reasons we will
suspend their account to avoid further problems. In come
circumstances we may be prepared to arbitrate, but the
responsibility for payment remains with the client and the
responsibility for collection of that payment remains with you. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
What about IR35? |
| |
You are an independent consultant servicing one or more
clients directly. No agency is involved. You have negotiated the fee and terms yourself, and you bear the
commercial risk of non-payment. We do not claim that you will be IR35 negative, but you
may stand a better chance of a swift resolution than a conventional
contractor.[ top ] |
| |
|
 |
Do you share your database with other organisations or sell my details? |
| |
No. Not without your permission. All
issued information is otherwise in-house. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
Do you offer any discount or pay any fee for introductions? |
| |
No. If we did this we would have to
increase fees. This would make the scheme less attractive. Bear
in mind that it is in your interest to have any many clients and
candidates participating as possible. [
top ] |
| |
|
 |
Why do you prefer that I contact you via the Internet? |
| |
If we provided more telephone lines,
we would need additional staff to answer them. This increases
our costs, which in turn results in higher fees.[
top ] |
| |
|
 |
How do I join? |
| |
By completing our on-line
joining page.
[ top ] |
| |
|
 |
Can I manage my profile online myself? |
| |
No. To maintain ITCD standards we
manage your profile. You email us with any changes you wish to
make. [ top ] |
| |
|
 |
What is a
candidate statement? |
| |
A candidate statement simply allows you the opportunity to sell yourself to the
client once he/she has found your profile through our search facility. [
